Rev. Dr. Istifanus Koce, of Evangelical Church winning All (ECWA) Action Area 2 in Kuje, has called on Christians in the country to leave above their fears and allow Christ to take control for devine fulfilment with God.
Koce, who made the call on Sunday in Kuje, during his Easter sermon called on Christians to emulate the godly characteristic of Jesus Christ while on earth for eternal life.
According to him, Christ allowed himself to be persecuted, mocked and crucified on the cross so that the scriptures could be fulfilled to save mankind.
While admonishing Christians to emulate Jesus Christ and imbibe the virtues of love and forgiveness, he particularly enjoined the congregation to give willingly for the progress and development of the church.
The cleric read the book of John chapter 19, verse 10 to 20 to describe how Jesus Christ was rejected by the Jews and handed over to pirate to be crucified on the cross.
“But they cried out ‘away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, shall I crucify your king? The Chief priest answered we have no king but Ceaser,” he said.
He stressed the need for Christians to help others, especially those in need, saying “we must try to positively touch the lives of others, care and improve the welfare of our neighbours.”
However, he called on all Nigerians, irrespective of their socio- cultural and ethno- religious differences to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice, tolerance and forgiveness in order to move the nation forward.
Speaking on giving, he tasked Christians to use the Easter occasion to love and care for the needy and to also pray for peace in the country, saying that prayer remains one major solution to our needs. (NAN)
