2015: ‘Concerned Group’ Seek Christian Governor for Lagos

A GROUP, the Concerned Citizens of Lagos State, has urged political parties in the state to consider fielding Christians as their candidates for the 2015 gubernatorial election in Lagos State.

Speaking after their general meeting in Badagry at the weekend, the State Coordinator of the group, Buraimoh Mustafa Ojora, noted that since the dawn of the present democracy in 1999, only Muslims have governed the state.

He stated that though they have nothing against Muslims governing the state, Lagos is a plural state and as such good conscience demands that power rotates amongst the two major religious organisations so that everybody would have a sense of belonging.

Ojora, therefore, advised all the political parties that would contest for the governorship election in the state to field Christians as their candidates.

He commended the harmonious relationship between Christians and Muslims in Lagos but stressed that for the interest of equity and justice, Christians should be given the opportunity to produce the governor of Lagos State in 2015.
