Three times former governor of Yobe state and incumbent third time senator from Yobe east, Bukar Abba Ibrahim has declared
his intention to recontest for senate in 2019. He is also prepared to slug it out with Ibrahim Geidam, the incumbent governor of Yobe state who comes from the same senatorial district with Senator Bukar.
Senator Bukar gave the indication Thursday at a press briefing in the National Assembly preparatory for a book launch on the senator said he is now 69 years old and intends to go into presidential race but his respect for President Muhammadu Buhari made him to withdraw for him. “I may still go back to my presidential ambition if my health permits”, he said.
On 2018 budget, which President Buhari signed into law yesterday, Senator Bukar said the President doesn’t have to implement all the things inserted in the budget. According to him budgets are usually not implemented 100%, but at certain percentages and “nobody will hang him for that”.
Senator Bukar Ibrahim whose wife Zainab Bukar Abba Ibrahim was Commissioner in aYobe state, three times member House of Representatives and current Minister of State Foreign Affairs.
The biography of Bukar Ibrahim will be launched on July 23, 2018 at Ladi Kwali Hall, Sheraton Hotel, Abuja.
Author of the book, Sam Egwu said Senator Bukar Ibrahim’s politics of putting money in the pockets of poor through execution of projects through direct labour was explained in detail in the book. This he alluded to the political philosophy of late Aminu Kano who is Senator Bukar’s political mentor.
