2023 Election: Suleja residents turn out en masse, laud process

Residents of Suleja Local Government Area (LGA) of Niger State, have commended voters for turning out en masse on Saturday to cast their ballot in the Gubernatorial and State Houses of Assembly elections.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that many Polling Units in the LGA witnessed a large turnout of voters casting their ballot peacefully.

Some of the voters expressed their happiness and lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials for their efforts during the exercise, held in most States of the country.

Mr Adamu Tanko, member-elect for the House of Representatives, Suleja-Tafa-Gurara Federal Constituency who cast his vote at Polling Unit 022 KG Aliyu Wali, Bagama ‘B’ Ward, commended the residents for their peaceful conduct.

“It is really exciting; the process is smooth as people are conducting themselves peacefully.

“I cast my vote without delay and I can say the process is good.

“I must commend INEC for what we are seeing here,” Tanko said.

Mr Abdullahi Suleiman, a former Chairman of Suleja Local Government Area, called on other residents who were yet to cast their vote to come out and perform their civic rights.

“This is the election that is very close to us; that is, the governor and the members of the House of Assembly.

“So, we need to select our governor who will take care of the States; there has been no violence here,” Suleiman said.

Mr Mustapha Musa, another resident, also commended the process at Dawaki Polling Unit and INEC officials for starting the process on time.

“The voting is going on peacefully in Suleja.

“Everything has been orderly; the women and men are all on the queue and it has been peaceful and calm,” Musa said.

Mrs Hauwa Ibrahim, another resident who cast her vote at the Old Samaritan Polling Unit, also lauded the process.

“I arrived here at 9 a.m and I observed that the INEC officials came out early.

“So far, the process has been peaceful.

“The BVAS machine has been working well and there has been no crisis,” Mrs Ibrahim said.
