3 Oil Pipeline Saboteurs Arrested in Bayelsa

Inspector General of Police, Hafiz Ringim

The State Security Service (SSS) has arrested three youths for allegedly blowing up pipelines belonging to Agip Oil Company in Nembe, Bayelsa.

Mrs Marilyn Ogar, the Assistant Director, Public Relations Department of the service, announced the arrests in Abuja on Thursday, while parading the suspects at a news conference.

The suspects, all residents of Bayelsa, are Donald Joshua, popularly known as “Sinado wait”; Dio Ifiemi and Ebi Howell, known as “Confusion”.

Ogar said investigation showed that the suspects were responsible for a shortfall in gas supply and subsequent disruption of power supply nationwide due to the blowing up of pipelines with dynamites on Oct. 1.

“Investigation has revealed that the pipelines were blown up with dynamites provided by Donald Joshua (aka Sinado wait), who perpetrated the attack with the assistance of Dio Ifiemi.

“Ebi Howell (aka Confusion) specialises in issuing text messages when explosions occur for pecuniary gains,” the SSS spokesperson said.

She said the three suspects had made useful confessions and would soon be charged to court.

Ogar said that no matter how long it took law enforcement agencies, the long arm of the law would catch up with criminals perpetrating such evil acts.

According to her, Nigerians are now more willing than ever before to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by providing useful information that will lead to the arrest of such criminals wherever they choose to hide.

“We appreciate well-meaning Nigerians for the necessary backing given to security agencies in the discharge of our onerous duty of securing the nation.

“We, therefore, call on other members of the public who have yet to imbibe this culture to do so as we jointly strive to move our country forward.”
