Gombe NNPP Chairman set to join APC… Says former party is irredeemably lawless, hopeless

Chairman of the crises ridden New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Gombe State, Mr Rambi Ibrahim Ayala, has dumped the party and set to join the All Progressive Congress (APC).

A deep crisis had continued to eat up the State chapter of the NNPP which led it’s leader and Governorship candidate in the 2023 general elections, Ahmed Khamisu Mailantarki, leaving the party with a crowd of his supporters and joining the PDP in November, 2024.

On his part, chairman of the party, Rambi Ayala, who had been having irreconcilable difference with some party members, leading to litigation, recently penned down his resignation from the party and handed over to his Billiri South ward chairman.

A copy of the letter which reads, “Take notice that I have resigned from the party effective from today”, dated 27th January, 2025, was made available to our Correspondent in Gombe recently.

Though Rambi did not give reasons for leaving the party and his next destination politically, he however confirmed to our Correspondent that he had left the NNPP because it has become irredeemably lawless and hopeless.

He also revealed that “I am heading to the ruling party to contribute my quota to the Renewed and Restored Hope agenda of Mr. President” adding that, “I will be a party man in my next destination, the APC”.

He stated also that, “For now, I will focus on my community engagement and making contacts as the days ahead unfolds”.

This latest move is seen as a big catch for the APC in Gombe State following Rambi’s critical stance against the administration of the party (APC).

He was a two term member under PDP and NNPP up to 2023 in the Gombe State House of Assembly and leader of the opposition in the APC controlled legislature and State administration.
