54 Worshipers Escape Death as Church Building Collapses During Rainstorm

ABOUT 54 worshipers in a Pentecostal church miraculously escaped death as a powerful tropical storm blasted through the ancient town of Uso, in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State, on Wednesday night. More than half of the entire town of Uso is now said to lie in ruins as the effect of global warming pounds hard now across Nigeria.

Several eyewitnesses told sharpedgenews.com that worshipers at the damaged Pentecostal church in an area known as Oke Uso were in the building as the heavy downpour o f rain which triggered the violent storm that ensued, when suddenly they heard the rush of sound and the next minute, the walls and roof of the tabernacle caved.

The over 54 worshipers who survived are expected to be okay after being checked for shock and trauma. Sharpedgenews.com was told that there was not a single fatality despite extensive damage done to proporties in the town.

The popular club named Arcade in the town was allegedly damaged as the storm tore through and bore down heavily on Uso, according to sources.

Television journalist, Bashorun Banjo Abitogun who is currently visiting Nigeria from his Dublin, Ireland base saw things for himself and called on government and disaster management bodies to the assistance of the people of the town.

According to him, Nigerians were always thankful to God that natural disasters were usually distant to their shores, but that may no longer be true. A similar storm system touched down in Owo, Kabba, Mopa and other underreported places.

No relief effort has yet reached the town.
