-Vincent Enyeama Expected
BEN Olaiya, the Media Officer of the Super Eagles, said on Tuesday that with the exception of goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama, all the invited foreign-based players were in camp.
The Eagles will play Liberia in the first leg of the last round of 2013 Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday in Monrovia.
Alaiya said on telephone that Enyeama was given a day off by Coach Stephen Keshi to sort out personal issues with his club.
The goalkeeper recently made a season long loan move to Maccabi Tel Aviv from his parent club Lille OSC of France after failing to get a regular starting place.
“All the players are in camp except for goalkeeper Enyeama who has yet to arrive due to some personal issues with his club.
“But the coach clearly understands his situation and has given him a day off to arrive in the camp latest on Wednesday.
“So, by the grace of God we are expecting a full house on Wednesday as we await his arrival to join the team.”
He said that the team’s spirit in camp was high, adding that the players were determined to overcome the Lone Stars and make the country proud.
He expressed the hope that the Eagles would pull a good result in Monrovia, saying that both the coach and players shared the same aspiration which was winning the encounter.
“I’m hopeful that we will get a good result in Monrovia. The players as well as the coach are determined to win because they share the same aspiration.”
The media officer said that there were so far no injury concerns as all the players were fit for the match.
The reverse fixture of Saturday’s qualifying match is slated for Oct. 12 at the U.J. Esuene Stadium, Calabar.
The 2013 AFCON competition will be hosted by South Africa which hosted the tournament last in 1996.
