Super Eagles and Levante striker, Obafemi Martins has been named one of the fastest footballers in the world.
Martins, whose speed and quick reaction led to the goal that handed Birmingham City the Carling Cup a couple of years ago, was named alongside Russia-based compatriots Victor Obinna and Ahmed Musa in a Bleacher Report’s World Football’s 50 Fastest Players.
The players were chosen on the basis of their pace, which is believed gives them an edge over others. Obafemi Martins has been renowned for his pace, which gives him the abilities to elude defenders easily and set his path towards goals.
England and Arsenal winger Theo Walcott topped the list as the fastest player, while Martins emerged 35th on the list and Nsofor followed suit on 36th. Ahmed Musa came 38th on the list.
The parameter for the selection,was based on a lot of factors, which includes the players control of the ball when in motion.
Real Madrid star player Cristiano Ronaldo finished 14th on the list,ahead of percieved rival, Lionel Messi who placed way behind him on 31st position.
Only last week coach of the Super Eagles,Stephen Keshi said that he will consider extending invitations to Martins and Nsofor,who have been in fine form for their respective clubs.
