Atletico Madrid look to ward off interest from Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester City with a new contract offer for star striker Radamel Falcao.
Atletico hope to end the interest surrounding Falcao by offering the Columbian a new and improved contract – one with a severly higher release clause, according to talkSPORT.
Falcao only joined Atletico last summer and his current deal runs to 2016, but the club hope that improved terms will convince the player to stay.
This new current deal would include a higher release clause for the player – who is regarded as the best striker in world football at the moment.
However, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is ready to meet the player’s £46million release clause in January and the 26-year-old has hinted he wants to move to Stamford Bridge.
Falcao’s rise in European football began with his hatrick against Chelsea in the European Super Cup back in August. Atletico Madrid ran out 4-1 victors in the game – due to Falcao.

Atletico Madrid currently sit joint first of La Liga – with Barcelona. Much of their success this season and last has been down to Radamel Falcao. The Columbian has a total of 49 goals in 59 appearances for Atletico in all competitions – and 13 in the league this season.
However – Roman Abramovich has been keen on flexing his financial muscle in recent years. Most recently spending over £50million on Eden Hazard and Oscar. Atletico Madrid may convince Falcao to stay and may increase his release clause in his contract – but when Abramovich wants his man – he usually gets it.
