We will follow president’s leadership on constitution review – Gov. Amaechi

The chairman of Nigeria’s Governors’ Forum and Governor of Rivers state, Chibuike
Amaechi, says the forum is focusing on the constitution review but added that “we
will follow the president leadership on the review.”

The governor stated this in an interview with journalists in Washington DC while attending the Business and Investment Forum organized by Woodrow Wilson center.

On the single term of six years recently suggested by the president, Gov.
Amaechi said the Governors’ Forum is yet to take stand on it.

“I cannot make comment on the single term for the president and the governors.
I have to wait for the Governors’ Forum to take a position on the issue.” He explained that the recent investment forum between him, US investors and five of his colleagues from Ogun, Benue, Cross Rivers, Imo and Katsina was very successful.

His words “we were well received at the Woodrow Wilson Center; it was more
of an enlightenment forum to expose what the situation in Nigeria looks like.”

“After that, we moved a step forward to meet with Corporate Council for Africa
(CCA) and some other agencies. After speaking with them, few investors are
coming to Port Harcourt. The area of investment is open; it is what we put on
the table that they will review.

“Education, health, transportation, agriculture and water are the key areas we
will like the investors to focus and see what they can give to us in Rivers.”
