Gunmen Launch Another Attack on Maiduguri Facilities

TERROR continues to reign at its northern epicenter of Maiduguri on Wednesday as gunmen suspected to be members of the violent Islamic sect, popularly known as Boko Haram, unleashed yet another string of brutal onslaught on nearby Kodunga.

Attacked were a local government office, a prison and a police station, leaving 3 people with various degrees of injuries.

Eyewitnesses to the incident reported that the criminals announced their arrival late Tuesday by shooting randomly into the air, after which they set explosive devices on the government office and a local police station.

One resident said a church was also attacked, but the information has not been confirmed by the police.

A police spokesman, Samuel Tizhe, told journalists that the police station was burnt down while the secretariat and prison were bombed.

Konduga, 40 kilometres (25 miles) from Maiduguri for some time now has served as the base of Islamic extremists blamed for scores of attacks that has caused hundreds of fatal casualties in the north.
