Real ‘Omoluabis’ in Yorubaland are in PDP – Former Gov. Oni

Newly elected National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), South-West, Chief Segun Oni, has declared that the real omoluabis in the Yorubaland are in the PDP.

Oni, who was the immediate past governor of Ekiti State, made the declaration in Ibadan on Thursday while speaking at the formal taking over of the affairs of the party in the zone.

He also declared that former President Olusegun Obasanjo was the greatest gift from God to the South-West and PDP, adding that with people like him, the country could attain greatness,

Declaring that PDP was the real party in the South-West, Oni said that the ruling party in the zone got to power, using all sorts of devices to hoodwink the people.

“Today marks the beginning of another chapter in the history of our great party. Now is the time to consolidate on all our strenght and build on all previous chapters.

“This is the time to harness our best of brains to demonstrate that PDP isn’t the alternative but the real. The real omoluabis in the South-West are in the party.

“The PDP in the Southwest is d party. Unfortunately, we have allowed the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) through propaganda to present themselves as the party, but now we are going to tell the pple that we are the party.

“We are not going to allow those who are using all sorts of devices to fool the people. Now is the right time to show that PDP is the real operator in the zone,” he said.

While appealing to all feuding leaders in the party to mend fences and pay adequate attention to building the party, Oni said; “We have seen people in the quest for power doing so many things and I wish our people will now begin to use the strenght and resources that we use to fight ourselves to tackle opposition the same way we tackle ourselves.”

Stating that the real work would start from the local government level, he said, “This is a period of hardwork, cooperation and encouragement. PDP must win the next set of election.”

“Therefore, henceforth, politics in d PDP will be local. If you want to play politics go to your Local Government and be a known leader there. If you are strong, show it at the grassroot.”

Corroborating Oni, the immediate past PDP national vice-chairman, South-West, Alhaji Tajudeen Oladipo, said that indiscipline was the bane of the party at the last election.

Challenging the party on the task ahead, he said that prior to the last general elections, PDP in the zone had the speakership of the House of Representatives, five state governors, 44 senators and over 100 state lawmakers.

He therefore said that efforts should be put in place for the task ahead, noting that Oni was capable of meeting up with the challenges.
