Air Nigeria to Resume Daily Lagos to London Flights

CHAIRMAN of the newly revived Air Nigeria outfit, Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim, revealed to the press on Saturday that the airline will commence the operation of daily flight schedules between London and Lagos on Monday, May 16 2012.

The new Lagos to London schedule is part of a larger plan that will include flights to Rome and Paris by June of 2012, said to Mr. Ibrahim, who submitted that it is important for the airline to include international flights in its business to survive.

Praising the Air Nigeria outfit for its safety, Mr. Ibrahim said that the airline has not recorded any accident in the 10 years of its operations. “Air Nigeria is safe and in nearly 10 years of flying, it has not recorded any accident,” he said.

Saying airline currently has 13 aircrafts in its fleet, Ibrahim blamed the financial problems that airlines encounter in the line of business on poor management, insufficient publicity and the instability in the ever-increasing price of aviation fuel.

Another route that the Air Nigeria airline will be plying is the Lagos to Johannesburg  route, which the airline will resume flying on Tuesday May 17, a day after the Lagos to London schedule goes into operations.

Mr. Ibrahim said the plans are part of larger plans in store for the airline in the 2012/2013 fiscal year. He denied some media reports (not sharpedge.com) that Air Nigeria owed moneys to some unnamed financial institution. He cited decentralization as one of the methods of operation of the airline to boost the efficiency and the sustainability.
