Otedola Appears Before House Ethics and Privileges Committee, Insists on Open Evidence

CHAIRMAN of Zenon Oil and Gas, Mr. Femi Otedola made an expected appearance before the House of Representatives Committee on Ethics and Privileges concerning his earlier exposure of the corrupt demands of Representative Farouk Lawan.

Mr. Otedola, who had to cut short a foreign trip to honor the House Committee’s invitation however registered his strong disagreement with the desire of the Committee to continue to hide the proceedings from the media and the electorate.

Otedola objected to the shifting of the goal post in the middle of a critical ball game, predicating his views on the promise earlier made by the committee that its proceedings would be open. The discredited Farouk Lawan committee on oil subsidy had also conducted its hearings with such media frenzy and global publicity.

Curiously, since the corrupt underpinnings of the committee’s conclusions and recommendations were exposed by Otedola whose company was questionably indicted, the Ethics and Privileges Committee has suddenly embraced the practice of close-door meetings that continue to make Nigerians and the world to wonder if the proceedings are trustworthy.
