POLICE authorities in Ebonyi State have apprehended a man who allegedly decapitated his father.
30-year old Okechukwu Ogbonna was arrested by the Ebonyi State Police Command last weekend for allegedly beheading his father for reasons yet unknown.
According to the spokesperson of the state police command, Mr. Sylvester Igbo, who spoke with newsmen in the state capital of Abakaliki, the suspect, a farmer who hails from Isundiede in Izzzi Local Government Area of the state, was arrested following a report received by the command on March 1, on the murder of his deceased father.
The PPRO said the suspect killed his 60-year old father, Mr. Ogbonna Okereke, after he was reportedly told by a pastor that his late father was tampering with his destiny.
Mr. Igbo also said the suspect claimed that his father was not taking proper care of him.
The body of the deceased has been deposited in a nearby hospital for autopsy.
The police spokesman also said the suspect would be charged to court as soon as investigation into the matter was completed.
