EID-EL-FITRI: Oni urges Unity, Peace

The National Vice Chairman (South-West) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Segun Oni has  urged Muslim faithful in the country, especially those in the Southwest to continue to imbibe the lessons of the Holy Month of Ramadan by being their brother’s keeper, saying; “There should be no excuse for anyone to use Islam to perpetrate violence because Islam is a religion of peace.”

The PDP National Vice Chairman, in a goodwill message to Muslims signed by his Media Aide, Mr. Lere Olayinka, said Nigerians irrespective of ethnic, religion and political differences must speak with one voice against the current security challenge in the country, instead of blaming it wholly on religion.

“Having observed the fast, read the Quran, listen to Hadith (Actions and sayings of the Holy Prophet) and Tesfir (Sermons of knowledgeable scholars) during the ninth lunar month, our Muslim brothers and sister must continue to imbibe the lessons of the Holy Month of Ramadan by being their brother’s keeper.

“Muslims should also note that since the great Prophet of Islam, Muhammad (PBUH), described Ramadan fasting as a shield against vices, Muslim faithful should remain guided by that one month of total abstinence and keep away from those vices they abstained from during the fasting period.”
