Immigration Deports Chinese Nationals for Illegal Mining

THREE Chinese citizens who allegedly engaged in illegal mining of gold in an Ogun State community have been apprehended and repatriated by the Nigeria Immigration Service.

According to the comptroller of the state command of the Service, Mr. Ola Omolere, the miners were mining without authorization, as required by law.

Upon interrogation, it was found that the Chinese nationals indeed were illegal miners and therefore were speedily repatriated to their home country.

The immigration boss said that people who are interested in mining in the country should properly acquaint themselves with the laws regarding mining to avoid running afoul of the law.

The news comes as three offices of the Service were promoted from the rank of assistant controllers to deputy controllers, one from chief superintendent to assistant controller, and nine from inspectors to senior inspectors.
