One hundred and thirty- four (134) houses at Apo Akpmajenya indigenous community were pulled down by the Federal Capital Territory Administration
over the weekend in an exercise coordinated by the Ikharo Attah-led Task Force on Sanitation.
According to Muktar Galadima, the Director, Development Control, FCTA, the area fell under the corridor of the Outer Southern Expressway and had been marked for demolition since January this year.
Sharpedgenews.com also learnt that the displaced residents were properly briefed prior to the demolition and had been resettled and compensated.
The Deputy Director, Planning and Resettlement, Department of Resettlement and Compensation, Mallam Nasir Suleiman, said 131 houses and 169 plots were given as compensation to the affected persons in addition to a plot of land for the community Chief’s house, comprehensive development and commercial plots.
He added that most of the affected individuals had already moved to Apo Resettlement Scheme quarters remaining only a few.
