Lagos to Experience Major Power Cut April 5 -8

LARGE swaths of Nigeria’s commercial capital and biggest city will experience a major power interruption for at least 4 days, between April 5 and April 8.

This is according to the management of Eko Electricity Distribution Company in a statement released on Tuesday, as signed by Mr. Godwin Idemudia, the assistant general manager of public affairs of the company.

According to Mr. Idemudia the planned power interruption was to carry out major maintenance works on two 11kv feeders.

The statement revealed that the maintenance work was for the purpose of getting them ready for evacuation of power from the newly installed 100MVA 132/33KV power transformer at the Ajah transmission station as well as the replacement of obsolete 11kv switch gears at the Akoka injection sub-station.

It stated that the work on the  island would affect Lekki Phase 1, VGC, Maroko, Victoria Island, UPDC Estate, Chevron Estate, NICON Town Estate, Victoria Island and other adjoining areas.

Similarly, the work at Akoka would affect Akoka, Yaba, Sabo and their environs.

It added that by the time the maintenance and system upgrading work in the two stations were completed, there would be “tremendous” improvement in  electricity supply to all affected areas.

It appealed to PHCN customers in the areas to bear with the company in view of the  inconveniences to be caused by the planned outage
