Hoodlums Invade Abuja Warehouses

…. No Hoarded Palliatives in FCT- Minister of State

By Dayo Omoogun

Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, yesterday had its own share of warehouse attacks, a scenario which had played out in several states across the nation.
The thugs were seen carting away bags of rice, cartons of tin tomatoes, cereals, milk, bales of Ankara materials, and other items from warehouses located in the Idu Industrial Area of the territory.

They were neither deterred by the presence of policemen nor the firing of teargas.

It was however not clear whether the warehouses were government-owned or privately owned.

Earlier in a statement on Saturday signed by Austine Elemue, the Special Assistant (Media) to the Minister of State, Federal Capital Territory, Hajiya Ramatu Aliyu, the Minister had assured residents that there are no hoarded palliatives in any stores across the territory.

She explained that all procured or donated items had been distributed through Community Associations, Professional bodies, Non-Governmental Organisations, Civil Societies and Area Council while stressing that there were distributions on an on-the-spot going basis as more donations are received.
She added that the details of such distributions which she claimed had reached over a million households were in the public domain.
