A Corps Assistant with the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Illiya Ibrahim, has been dismissed from service for allegedly participating
in looting COVID-19 palliatives discovered in a warehouse in Gwagwalada, Abuja.
Ibrahim’s dismissal was contained in a statement by Ekunola Gbenga, the Media Assistant to the Commandant-General of the Corp on Tuesday.
Ibrahim of the Gwagwalada Division Abuja was allegedly seen with some food items while decked in the NSCDC uniform at the scene of COVID-19 palliatives’ looting in Abuja.
The statement titled “NSCDC dismisses officer for looting in Abuja”, read in part:
“The Commandant General Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu has approved the recommendation of the Junior Staff Disciplinary Committee for the dismissal of Illiya Ibrahim of the Gwagwalada Division for joining hoodlums in looting COVID-19 palliatives discovered in a warehouse in Gwagwalada, Abuja.
“The recommendation was given after the officer was charged under the public service rule which is related to unbecoming conduct of officers.
“This disciplinary measure was taken after a series of investigations and deliberations by the junior disciplinary committee and recommendations were made to the management.
“He tasked the personnel to remain committed, resolute, and firm in the discharge of their duties.”
The Commandant-General also thanked officers and men of the Corp as well as members of the public who have from time to time provided useful information leading to fishing out the bad eggs in the Corp.
