DISCIPLINE and decency, especially for female students, was the motivation for organizing a one-day seminar at the Federal University of Technology on Wednesday.
“We want them to know that wherever they are, they should know that what justifies a person as a responsible woman in the society is decency and discipline,” said Mr. Kayode Alese, a male official, in his capacity as the dean of student affairs.
Mr. Alese was represented at the occasion organized exclusively for female students by a student affairs officer, Mr. Johnson Esho, another male.
“If ladies protect the sanctity of womanhood, issues of rape, prostitution and other anti-social vices on campuses would be a things of the past,” he said.
Mr. Alese observed that cases of what he cited as indecent dressing and gross indiscipline among the university’s female student population was not common. He however expressed the belief that the seminar would help encourage female students of the institution to spread the message to their peers in other universities.
An assistant registrar and counselor at the university, Ms. Abiola Olusanya, said the seminar would orientate the female students of the Federal University of Technology, Ajure, to recognize the importance to developing certain “features” that will make them attractive to men.
According to Olusanya, the seminar would also enable the women to recognize their priority as students, as well maintaining good hygiene at their halls of residence.
“It is important for them to know what womanhood is all about as they develop certain features, which automatically make them attractive to the opposite sex,” Olusanya said.
