FG Approves 20 New Private Universities

The Federal Executive Council rose from it’s weekly meeting on Wednesday with approval of the requests for the establishment of twenty (20) new private Universities.

 

This brings the total number of private universities in Nigeria to ninety- nine(99).

According to the Minister of Education, Malam Adam Adamu, they have been granted a 3- year provisional licence to enable the authorities to monitor their operations prior to their being issued their final licences.

Some of the newly approved universities are Topfaith in Akwa Ibom State, Nok in Kachia, Kaduna State; Maranatha in Imo State; Ave Maria in Nassarrawa State; Maryam Abacha American University of Kano; Ahman Pategi in Kwara State; Karl Kumm, Von in Plateau State; Jane’s Hope in Lagos State and Mudiame University, Irrua, Edo State.

Nine of the newly approved universities are located in the North Central geopolitical zone, five in the North West; two in South East; one in the South West and three in the South-South.
