As part of concerted efforts to reduce child mortality in Nigeria, UBA Foundation has undertaken to donate incubators
to teaching hospitals in the country.
To this end the Foundation today donated two incubators to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH). The incubators were received by the Chief Medical Director of UBTH, Professor Micheal Ibadin and other principal officers of the hospital.
“It is our hope that this gesture will help save babies born premature in the Benin area. It follows from the donation of incubators made by us to the Lagos University Hospital (LUTH} last year. UBA Foundation as the corporate social responsibility arm of UBA is committed to giving back to the society through a number of initiatives and special intervention programmes of this nature” said Ms Ijeoma Aso, MD UBA Foundation.
Established in year 2004, UBA Foundation through its focus areas such as Education, environment and economic empowerment has been touching the lives of people in Nigeria and other parts of Africa where UBA has presence.
The Chief Medical Director, Professor Micheal Ibadin commended UBA Foundation for the gesture and promised the incubators will be put to good use. According to him the donation brings to twenty four, the number of incubators in the hospital thus making it the hospital with the highest number of incubators in Nigeria. “Our banking relationship with UBA spans over 3 decades we will continue to do all we can to nurture” it he stated
University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan, Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Zaria (ABUTH), University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Enugu and Aminu Kano University Teaching Hospital (AKUTH), Kano are some of the hospitals that will benefit from this gesture from the Foundation.
