Cleric urges Christians to know the genuine Christ

Rev. Istifanus Koce, of Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) Action Area 2 in Kuje, has urged Christians in Nigeria to know the genuine Christ in them for divine fulfilment with God.

The cleric gave the advice at a Sunday sermon entitled “Knowing the Christ in You” in Kuje called on Christians to emulate the godly characteristics of Jesus Christ while on earth for eternal life.

According to him, knowing the wrong Christ would give Christians a fake hope and the Glory of God would be lost for eternity.

He said the genuine Christ allowed himself to be persecuted, mocked, humiliated and crucified on the cross so that the scriptures could be fulfilled to save mankind.

While admonishing Christians to know the genuine Christ in them for the hope of Glory, he particularly enjoined the congregation to give willingly for the progress and development of the church.

The cleric, reading from Colossians chapter 2, verse 1 to 4, revealed how Apostle Paul described Jesus Christ as a symbol of wisdom and knowledge to the Church.

“I want you to know how much I am struggling for you, my purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding to know the mystery of God.

“Namely Christ in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge, I tell you this so that no one may deceive you by fine resound arguments,’’ he said.

He stressed the need for Christians to help others, especially those in need, saying “we must try to positively touch the lives of others, care and improve the welfare of our neighbours.”

However, he called on all Nigerians, irrespective of their socio- cultural and ethno-religious differences to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice, tolerance and forgiveness in order to move the nation forward.

Speaking on giving, he tasked Christians to love, care for the needy and also to pray for peace in the country. (NAN)
