Likeminds All Stars Football Club in Kuje Area Council FCT, an Abuja based football/social club, at the weekend marked its One-year Anniversary having succefully broke out from Kuje All Stars last year.
Mr Momoh Mohammed, President of the club who described the Anniversary as Kaleidoscope of happy memories, supportive friendships and enduring relationship called on members to be committed for the development of football in the area.
Mr Momoh expressed excitement for the length of time members have stayed together irrespective of many challenges, noting that the club deserves to celebrate successes they have achieved in one year.
According to him, despite many challenges and stumbling blocks, Likeminds were able to successfully breakaway from the parent kuje All-stars without any war, constituted Executive members, drafted a constitution, secured a befitting stadium among others.
“Within one year we were able to play friendly matches both home and away, secured a befitting stadium for our activities on Saturdays and public holidays.
“We also took part in major football tournaments at Lugbe and goal project of which by all standard we were adjudged the most colourful and best dressed team.
“We also have an in-house league matches that will take us till the end of the year between Team Tony and Aitaman Team because of their common interest in MORINGA.
“As at today we have over 55 diverse members of common interest and registration of new members is now N25, 000.
“From the achievements above, the word Likeminds have come to stay and we achieved these because we are Likeminds. TOGETHER WE CAN through togetherness, supportive, encouraging and enduring,” The President said.
Coach Martins Asata, the Patron of Likeminds also revealed that the club have impacted the environment in Kuje, through inspiring its members, matured socialisation and mentoring of youths as key aspect of their social responsibility.
Mr Ahamefule Nwalozie, Secretary of LIKEMINDS All Stars, , wished LIKEMINDS All Stars FC success and long life on their anniversary celebration and prayed for the continued oneness.
“I feel excited and happy, it’s wonderful that Likeminds is marking one year anniversary today and we came all from the fringes of different backgrounds to have a football club; TOGETHER WE CAN.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that part of the event to commemorate one year of the club’s existence, Likeminds All Stars played a novelty match with Metro City All Stars at the Funtaj International Stadium in Kuje.
NAN also reports that the match was followed by a get together by members of the two clubs which could best be described as a gathering of Happy people and active footballers.
The occasion also witnessed a lot of merriment with food and drinks in abundance, while singing and dancing by BABWIRE & DON HILZ with other side attractions were very much present.
NAN observed that the members of the two teams were majorly individuals who played the round leather game at younger age, but now established professionals in their different works of life, however still play football to keep fit, to socialize and to inspire people. (NAN)
