2023 Election: Don’t vote for the sake of money, vote for posterity – Council advises youths

The Nigeria Youth Mobilisation Council (NYCM) has called on Nigerian youths to resist the temptation of selling their votes during the 2023 general elections in the country.

Mr Abisoye Joe-King, Director-General of the council, made the call when he met heads of some youth groups and youth movements, in Abuja.

He said the aim of the meeting is to unify the aspirations of the youth groups and ensure they speak in one voice ahead of the 2023 elections.

“Considering the state of things in the country, it is the vote of the Nigerian youths that will rescue the nation in 2023.

“I urge the youths to be focused, not vote for the sake of money but should remember posterity.

“This is because the destiny of Nigeria should not be determined by corrupt leaders, as such, I encourage the youth to be proactive in their campaign for a better Nigeria.

According to him, the council had pledged its support to the Electoral Act and would ensure that its tenets are upheld.

He advised all youth movements and associations to take advantage of the Act and make sure their vote counts.

“I also want to appeal to all youth associations in the country not to make the mistake of being used negatively but vote according to their conscience.

“This election is historic in the sense that the Nigerian youths want to have full participation and not ready to sit on the fence.

“History will hold us accountable if we do not get it right this time because the window of opportunity has been opened to us.

“We should ensure that we do not vote corrupt and leaders with questionable attributes in 2023,” he said.
