Emulate PAIKON-KORE community – MHWUN Chairman tasks FCT traditional rulers 

Com. Shanabo Abubakar, the Chairman, Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (MHWUN) Union in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, has called on FCT traditional rulers to emulate PAIKON-KORE for peaceful coexistence in the country.

Com. Shanabo made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) during the 20th Anniversary of ETU OF PAIKON-KORE HRH Alhaji Yusuf Barwa in Gwagwalada on Tuesday. 

The MHWUN Chairman who was also coronated as the TAFIDA of PAIKON-KORE said the community has been leaving in peaceful coexistence for a long time, hence there was need for other communities to mulate the gesture.  

He described HRH Alhaji Yusuf Barwa as one of the successful Etsu to be an astute, egalitarian, one of the finest and exemplary leader in the community.

On 2023 general elections, he called on youths across the country to ensure they collect their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) and vote credible leaders for the development of the country. 

He also advised the youths not to allow themselves to be used for political malpractices, but rather as agents of positive change for democracy to thrive in the country.

“The youths should abide by the law and follow all the electoral laws by the INEC, during the 2023 general lections on Feb. 12.

“They should shun violence and remain resolute in pursuing their mission and vision in the elections, which is all about interest, but not to seek to supersede others.

“I urge our youths to remain law abiding citizens for a peaceful and credible elections, while I plead with INEC and security agents to do the needful, ” he said.

According to him, the call became imperative, to enable the youths vote credible candidates during the February 2023 general elections in the country. 

He said that the attainment of a good election was dependent on full cooperation and support of the youths to avoid any form of electoral violence during elections.

However, he maintained the importance of the PVCs because that was the only tool the electorate could use to choose leaders of their choice.

He also called on the youths not to allow the current situation in the country to discourage them from coming out to vote during general elections, adding that voter apathy was a threat to good governance.

Besides, he called for inclusive representation of the youths in governance to enable the economic development of the country. (NAN)
