The Everlasting Arms Parish (TEAP) of Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), FCT Province I, has doled out food, clothes, and sundry items to poor and vulnerable persons in Abuja.
The items were doled out during the church’s seventeenth edition of annual welfare programme.
Mr Olusegun Adeniyi, Chairman, Tabitha Planning Committee, TEAP 2022, said that the gesture was to share and show love to the less privileged.
He said that the items were procured from donations received from church members and the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development.
“It is a corporate social responsibility to take care of the less privileged in the society,” Adeniyi said, adding that beneficiaries were from every tribe and religion.
According to him, thousands of underprivileged people who live within the surburbs of the FCT have benefited from the gesture.
Pastor Evaristus Azodoh, who is in charge of the parish, said “people are coming to shop without money or paying; we have clothing, foodstuff, toiletries etc.
“We started this about 17 years back; everyone comes, they don’t care who is planning or providing the food, hunger knows no religion or tribe, we have all tribes and religions here to get support.
“We should do less politics about the welfare of our people, just take care of the people,” he said.
A church member, Mrs Elizabeth Ekpenyong, expressed gratitude to God for the success of the programme, which she said had put smiles on the faces of people.
Another church member, Tina Bello, said that the gesture was to add value to people’s lives.
Some of the beneficiaries appreciated the church and prayed for more blessings on the organisers and the country. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
