Security guard arraigned for alleged stealing of tricycle

A 28-year-old security guard, Gabriel Moses, was on Tuesday arraigned before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State, for allegedly conspiring with others to steal a tricycle worth N870,000.

Moses, whose address is unknown, is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and negligence of duty.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Insp Christian Okonofua, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on March 23 at No. 1, Mukas Abule Agbon Isawo Road in Agric area, Ikorodu.

Okonofua said that the defendant unlawfully neglected his duty as a security guard to protect a tricycle with registration number APP 619 QL under his custody.

The prosecutor said that the tricycle, belonging to one Mr Waheed Rasaq, got missing.

According to him, the offences contravene Sections 411, 287 and 525 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, Mrs T.A. Shotobi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N250, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Shotobi ordered that one of the sureties must be a blood relationship to the defendant and have evidence of tax payment.

She adjourned the case until April 6 for mention.
