Yhe President-elect, Bola Tinubu, on Thursday assured Nigerians that he would not disappoint the trust placed on him by President Muhammadu Buhari and millions of Nigerians.
He also acknowledged the gravity of the honour bestowed upon him and the corresponding responsibility that comes with it.
“I understand the magnitude of the honour conferred on me today and the task ahead. Nigerians deserve no less.
“You (Buhari) have charted the course and I shall not disappoint you,” he said.
Tinubu made these remarks during his acceptance speech after being awarded the National Honour of Grand Commander of the Federal Republic, making him the 16th person to receive the GCFR Honour.
Previous recipients include Nnamdi Azikiwe, Obafemi Awolowo, Shehu Shagari, Olusegun Obasanjo, Abdulsalami Abubakar, Ibrahim Babangida, Ernest Shonekan, Sani Abacha, Moshood Abiola, Umaru Yar’Adua, and Goodluck Jonathan.
