A pressure group, Ondo Solidarity Forum (OSF) has expressed confidence in the leadership style of the Ondo State Acting Governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, noting that he is building on the achievements of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), who is currently on medical leave.
Rising from an emergency meeting in Akure on Sunday, the group also cautioned some politicians with divisive tendencies against fabricating “non-existent disaffection” between Akeredolu and Aiyedatiwa.
In a communique issued by its chairman, Dr. Dipo Okeyomi, and publicity secretary, Prince Kayode Fasua, the OSF observed that nothing has shown so far that Ondo State is lacking in virile leadership, stressing that Aiyedatiwa is up to the task.
“Contrary to insinuations that Lucky Aiyedatiwa cannot perform his role as Acting Governor, all indications point to the fact that he is not only competent but also proactive in handling state affairs in the absence of his boss, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.
“For instance, the Acting Governor has been paying workers’ salaries as and when due and also recently paid them outstanding leave bonus. This is aside from ensuring that existing government projects are speedily and diligently carried out.
“We also appreciate the creation of additional 33 local council development areas in Ondo State which Governor Akeredolu initiated but which has incidentally been carried out under the leadership of the Acting Governor,” the group enthused.
The OSF also congratulated Ondo State’s ministerial nominee who is currently a member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Olubunmi Ojo, saying President Bola Tinubu had spotted a round peg for a round hole in the choice of the nominee.
The group also appealed to the Tinubu administration to help facilitate the establishment of agro-allied industries in Ondo State, with a view to boosting the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) rating and taking many virile and educated youths out of the labour market.
