Mr Christopher Maikalangu, Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) on Monday in Abuja , performed a ground-breaking ceremony to mark the commencement of the 1.58km Dnako township road, in the area council.
The chairman said that the road project is in response to the yearnings of the people and in fulfillment of his campaign promises.
“This ground breaking ceremony is so dear to me at this period when our Minister has decided to change the face of the FCT.
“I am highly convinced that the most suitable development in my own capacity as a local government chairman is to start at the grassroot level.
“With the conviction I have, this road will be of great benefit to the people living within this area.
“It will also create a new business hub around Dnako village and other adjourning communities and spring forth a new urban resettlement, which shall reduce pressure on the city center.
“As a responsible government, it is our duty to meet the needs and aspirations of all the electorates to enable them enjoy the dividends of democracy and also feel the impact of good governance within their various communities,” he said.
For his part, the acting Chief of Dnako village, Mr Dijango Bangyi, represented by Mr Nathaniel Gaza, appreciated the chairman for the road project in their community.
“We like to seize this opportunity to applaud the chairman for giving hope to the hopeless and voice to the voiceless.
“Our appreciation to you knows no bounds, for helping our community and for also approving a transformation for us.
“We cannot thank you enough for honouring us this way, we pray that God will increase you in all aspects,” he said.
