DSIEC fingered for imposing councillorship candidates in his Ika South Ward 3.

Controversy has arisen in Delta State over the questionable character of Mr Amino Imasua, the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC) representative for Delta North who has been accused of abusing his position to impose councillorship candidates in his Ika South Ward 3.

According to sources, Amino who is a known philanderer in the community also used his position as Secretary of the Local Education Authority in Ika South to extort teachers and take bribes to post teachers to unfavorable locations in the area.

This has caused concern among residents who believe that such a character is not worthy to hold the position of an unbiased umpire in the forthcoming local government council elections.

Residents who spoke to our correspondent expressed their disappointment and called on the appropriate authorities to investigate and bring Amino to book if found guilty of the allegations.

One resident, Mrs Adaeze Okolie, lamented the corrupt practices of some government officials in the state, saying that it is disheartening to see such individuals occupying important positions in government.

“The abuse of power and the abuse of office by some government officials in this state is alarming. Amino Imasua is just one of many who have used their positions to enrich themselves and their families without taking into consideration the plight of the common people,” she said.

Efforts to get Amino Imasua’s response to the allegations were unsuccessful as he could not be reached for comment.

However, some concerned citizens have called for his immediate removal from office if found guilty of the allegations. They argue that such a person should not be allowed to represent the people in any capacity.

The forthcoming local government council elections are expected to be keenly contested, and residents are calling for transparency and fairness in the conduct of the exercise. They have appealed to the appropriate authorities to ensure that only people of good character are appointed to important positions in government.
