The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, and the Honourable Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, have officially confirmed their participation in the upcoming Diplomatic Conference.
The high-level conference, scheduled to take place on June 25, 2025, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja, is themed: Multilateralism and Diplomacy for National Development
The Speaker is expected to deliver a keynote address on parliamentary diplomacy and inter-parliamentary diplomacy affairs as well as Nigeria’s Legislative Role in Strengthening Foreign Policy and Global Cooperation, while Minister Olawande will speak on Youth Engagement in Foreign Policy and International Development, underscoring the importance of preparing a new generation of leaders to understand Nigeria’s strategic position in global diplomacy.
The conference will convene diplomats, ambassadors, policymakers, legislators, foreign affairs professionals, multilateral institutions, and young professionals to deliberate on Nigeria’s foreign relations, international cooperation, and multilateral diplomacy.
Speaking on the confirmed participation, the Convener of the Diplomatic Conference Igweshi Augustine, noted,
“The confirmation of the Speaker and the Honourable Minister adds significant value to the conference and shows strong institutional support for promoting diplomacy and youth inclusion in Nigeria’s foreign policy agenda.”
He stated that a major highlight of the event will be a Diplomatic Simulation Exercise, where participants will take on the roles of Nigerian Ambassadors to various countries and regional bodies, engaging in real-time negotiations and foreign policy decision-making processes.
Our engagement with embassies, international organizations, and development partners is to ensure robust participation and impactful dialogue at the conference.
Igweshi Augustine also, stated that the major part of Diplomatic Conference is unveiling and inauguration of the delegates into the Diplomatic Assembly as well as induction of delegates into African Transformer Institute as Fellows.
