Odofin of Oba Ile Arrested Over Land Grab Violence

A ranking member of the royal council of Oba Ile, High Chief David Aribisala Agidingbi is now cooling off in jail for sponsoring touts to unlawfully vandalize

properties at a gated community, Fatuase Layout in the ancient town.

High chief Agidingbi who holds the chieftaincy title of Odofin was arrested and paraded around Fatuase Layout, Oba-Ile in Akure North Local Government after property owners in the community reported him to law enforcement agencies.

Agidingbi allegedly hired miscreants armed with guns and sledge hammers and decided to destroy properties belonging to residents of the area whom he had harassed for more than two years based on a purported court ruling.

Residents of the Fatuase Community stormed the office of Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko this Monday to protest the way and manner in which Agidingbi had sent thugs to destroy properties and harass families.

The thugs who were allegedly hired by Agidingbi reportedly came with guns, machetes, sledge hammers and pulled fences, gates and buildings down to foundation.

The embattled chief, who was said to have operated without respect for the town’s King, Oloba Agunbiade Otutubiosu, was said to be broke and was attempting to grab back lands sold several years before he was installed the Odofin.

David Aribisala Agidingbi allegedly goes around insulting and denigrating the memory of his predecessor, Odofin Adebayo Fabilola, who worked hard for the development of Oba-Ile community from 1976 to 1995.

“Wherever this new Odofin goes, he accuses the late Odofin of illegitimately occupying the stool for nineteen years. That is not our business. He crossed the line in trying to take and resell our lands”, said protesting residents.

Governor Olusegun Mimiko was attending to representatives of the residents as at press time.

The governor was said to be unhappy that Odofin Aribisala Agidingbi did not respect due process.

Aribisala was said to have resulted to self help to enforce a court ruling that is currently on appeal before a competent law court.

The thugs unleashed on Fatuase estate was allegedly led by a man identified as Kunle Asoga (aka Atiku). Two of the associates who acted in concert with Kunle Adigun Asoga are also in the holding cell of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) at Oda Road in Alagbaka Akure.
