Breaking News: Buhari Fires Omeri, Niboro, 4 Others at Information Parastatals

President Muhammadu Buhari has finally relieved all six political appointees at the helm of management in six parastatals of the Federal Ministry of Information.

The six media managers, Sola Omole of Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Ladan Salihu, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Ima Niboro, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Sam Worlu, Voice of Nigeria (VON), Emeka Mba, Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC), and Mike Omeri of National Orientation Agency (NAO), were appointed by former President Goodluck Jonathan. Their sack would pave way for Buhari to bring his own men and probably women to supervise the sail in the parastatals, always considered pivotal in the dissemination of news and policy activities from the perspectives of government in the country.

Ima Niboro and Ladan Salihu’s years were dogged by allegations of less than honest dealings in the handling of the finances of their different agencies. No hint of such misconducts were contained in the directives that made their removal public this Monday.

Minister of Information and Culture, Mr. Lai Mohammed, at a morning briefing with all of them earlier today disclosed their disengagement. The Director General of the National Orientation Agency, Mr. Mike Omeri, was also removed. Lai Mohammed also directed them to hand over to the most senior civil servant in their different offices as they exit.

Thanking them for their service to the nation, he wished them best of luck in their subsequent endeavours.
