Appeal Court Lorry Kills Edo Farmer, Two Sons

A truck belonging to the appeal court, Abuja lost control after its brakes failed at the weekend, at Ofumwengbe in Ovia South West local government area of

Edo state killing a father, Mr. Joseph Adeke and his two high school boys.

 The appeal court truck was said to be loaded with documents considered vital but after the driver of the vehicle, whose identity was not immediately known and who has since been detained at Iguobazuwa police station lost control of the vehicle, he climbed over the man who was riding on his motorcycle with the two boys and crushed them to death.

 The entire community was thrown into mourning and the man’s wife, who is also the mother of the two dead children wailed uncontrollably.

Mr. Joseph, a farmer and his two sons 15-year-old Jeffrey and Ovie (13) were on their way home when they were crushed by the truck.

“The man went to pick the children who were in SS1 and JSS1 of Evergreen School, a private school in Ofumwengbe, and was on his way home when they were run over by the truck.

“They were riding on a motorcycle and the truck, which was carrying some papers (documents) had brake failure and the driver lost control,” an eyewitness told our reporter.

An attempt to speak with the Divisional Police Officer was abortive. However, a member of the family, Mr. Tony Odoyinbo confirmed the incidence.
