Prominent Itsekiri mogul and politician in Delta State, Chief Ayiri Emami, has slammed the Federal Government over the
continued fuel scarcity being experienced in the country, just as he called for total deregulation of oil sector so as to allow individuals import fuel.
Ayiri, who spoke to our correspondent in Warri, said unless the Federal Government removes the subsidy from fuel importation and allows for a free market, the country will continue to experience fuel scarcity.
He also said that Federal Government policies had not been favourable to the country, urging the government to have a human face when it is making any policy.
He accused oil-bearing communities for aiding and abetting pipeline vandals and oil bunkerers living within their communities, appealing to the communities to take over the security of oil pipelines that run across their domains.
He also condemned private individuals who engaged in pipeline vandalism and sabotage of oil facilities, stressing that they were contributing to the scarcity of fuel as virtually all the fuel pipes across the country have been vandalised thereby making it difficult for government to transport fuel to all parts of the country.
