Some one hundred and ten thousand households have suffered power outage in Houston, Texas following a massive downpour that has triggered dangerous
flood down the streets of the busy Southern city in the United States of America.
Torrential rains caused heavy floods that got many motorists and residents trapped. Many of them have had to swim through rapidly moving waters. Busted sewage pipes have thrown dirts and excreta on open streets. The flood is strong enough in some neighbourhoods such that vehicles and other heavy objects are being swept.
There are no reports of serious casualties yet. It is not clear whether city officials would decide on switching the powers back on any time soon. Apart from damages suffered by pylons, pre-emptive measures are taken so that residents do not get electrocuted from fallen cables.
