Former NFF President Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdullahi has awarded academic scholarship to fourteen student players to continue their education at FOSLA Academy Karshi, Abuja.
Announcing this on Monday, the former FCT Director of Sports said the students which comprises of ten boys and four girls would resume with other fee paying students in the next academic session.
“This programme is an annual one where we select some players who are naturally endowed in the game of football to continue their academics in FOSLA Academy while at the same time pursing their football career. These students are among the very few that have the opportunity to benefit from the School’s academic scholarship. They are expected to resume next academic session, starting from JSS1”. Continuing, Lulu said that “the students were selected from football tournaments that were organized in Kogi State and FCT among which 50 players were selected to partake in the final stages held in Abuja; and at the same time took part in the school’s common entrance examination. It was after that, that the best ten were selected among the boys, and four among the girls. These students would now join other fee paying to begin next academic session” he said.
Those who would benefit from the 2016 academic scholarship which is worth N725,000.00 per student on yearly basis include: Mustapha Abdulkarim (Omala LGA, Kogi State), Philip Gambo (Idah LGA, Kogi State), Abdulazeez Yakubu (Olamoboro LGA, Kogi State), Mustapha Idris (Dekina LGA, Kogi State), Felix Tale (Bassa LGA, Kogi State), Yakubu Hamza (AMAC, FCT), Emmanuel Iniobong (AMAC, FCT), Muhammed Usman (Karshi, FCT), Ogbelu Onuche (AMAC, FCT), Awolola Emmanuel (Kwali, FCT). The girls who would benefit from the scholarship include Wosilat Alhassan (Dekina, Kogi State), Sumaya Usman (Dekina LGA, Kogi State), Peace Peter (Gwagwalada, FCT), Janet Bawa (AMAC, FCT).
