Oyo 2027: Alao Declares Governorship Bid, Unveils ‘Redemption Mission’

Engr. Oyedele Hakeem Alao, an APC governorship aspirant, has formally declared his intention for Oyo state’s 2027 governorship race.

Alao, who made the declaration on Tuesday at the NUT Resource Centre in Samanda, Ibadan, promised a “Redemption Mission” to revive the state’s pacesetter legacy.

Addressing party leaders, elders, members, and citizens, Alao, who goes by “Allow Alao,” outlined a manifesto built on four pillars: agriculture, health, education, and civil service reform.

He described Oyo as overdue for transformation after years of stifled potential in markets, farms, schools, and hospitals.

In agriculture, Alao pledged mechanisation centers across zones including Oke-Ogun, Ibarapa, Ogbomoso, Oyo and Ibadan; a “Feed Ourselves, Feed the Nation” initiative with improved seedlings, equipment and financing; processing zones in each senatorial district; farmer-industry partnerships; and revived irrigation for year-round farming.

For health, his “Health for All” agenda calls for upgrading primary health centres, revitalizing general hospitals as centres of excellence, and emphasizing preventive care, sanitation, and reduced maternal and infant mortality.

Education reforms under an “education emergency” include rehabilitating school infrastructure, teacher training and welfare, STEM and digital literacy focus, scholarships for indigent students, and vocational training.

Civil service, according to him, will go for changes aim for merit-based recruitment, digital operations, improved welfare, and performance accountability.

Alao, an engineer, highlighted his track record in project execution and integrity, appealing to APC elders to select a “progressive-minded” candidate with competence, character, capacity and compassion — invoking President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Lagos model.

“This is not Allow Alao’s ambition. This is our Redemption Mission,” he said.
