A peaceful protest against police brutality, targeted at blacks, turned fatal in Dallas, Texas, Thursday night.
Unconfirmed local sources said two snipers shot sporadically at police officers just about the time the protest was winding down. Police sources said the violence started at about 8:58 pm, calling it “our worst nightmare.” Dallas Police Department Chief David Brown said three police officers were shot to death while ten others received various degrees of injuries related to gunshot. The victims had been taken to the hospital for appropriate medical treatment. Dallas police department employs about three thousand, seven hundred personnel, some of whom are from the swat team and tactical operations. Gunshots were still being heard till about 11:30 pm local time.
The protest that degenerated into the late night mayhem arose from police killing of a black man in the state of Louisiana and another licensed black gun holder by an over reactive police officer in St. Paul, Minnesota. The police in Dallas said late last night that the suspect responsible for the fatal shootings are also suspected to plant bomb in downtown area of the sprawling southwestern city.
