Deacon Shola Mese (JP) has emerged Vice Captain of Ogunu Golf Club after defeating Chief Blessing Oboh in the club’s election.
The election, held on May 19 in Warri, saw Mese secure 57 votes against Oboh’s 41 votes out of 98 total votes cast.
Other elected officials include Captain Fabiansky, Secretary Tony Ovie-Whisky, Communication Secretary Shaibu, and House Officer Ehis.
Mese, popularly known as “FBI”, thanked members for their confidence and pledged inclusive leadership, transparency, and commitment to the club’s growth.
“I am deeply honoured by this victory and the trust members placed in me. I will serve with humility, fairness, and dedication,” Mese said.
He promised to promote unity, improve competitions, and strengthen the club’s reputation within Nigeria’s growing golf community.
“Every member matters. I want a club where everyone feels respected, involved, and proud to belong,” he added.
Mese who doubles as the founder of Shola Mese Foundation, also pledged to support quality tournaments and improve the Ladies’ Section of the club, as well as encourage stronger participation in social and sporting activities.
According to him, his experience across several golf clubs nationwide would help introduce best practices to Ogunu Golf Club.
“Our club has enormous potential. Together, we will build an environment that inspires friendship, excellence, and lasting progress,” he said.(NAN)
