
The governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani, has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the fortjcoming 2027 poll.The governor, who contested the primary unopposed on Thursday, secured the party’s ticket for his second term bid with 459,393 votes.Delegates from the 23 LGAs of the state participated in the primary election, which was monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Announcing the result, Hafiz Kawu, chairman of the Kaduna APC governorship and house of assembly primary election committee, said the process was peaceful and transparent.Kawu said the outcome of the primary is an indicator of the growing unity and internal cohesion within the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general election.Yusuf Liman, speaker of the state house of assembly, said Sani’s candidacy was unanimously endorsed by delegates and party supporters.Speaking shortly after his adoption as the winner and flag bearer of the party, Sani applauded members and stakeholders of the APC for their “overwhelming” demonstration of trust, support, and solidarity.He noted that the endorsement represents a renewed mandate to strengthen inclusive governance and security and accelerate development across the state.“We have made significant progress in restoring peace, strengthening unity, and expanding development across Kaduna State through dialogue, inclusion, and people-orientated policies,” Sani said.“From infrastructure and education to rural transformation and urban renewal, our administration remains committed to improving the lives of our citizens.”He added that his administration would consolidate on the gains already recorded and intensify efforts towards building a more peaceful, prosperous, and economically vibrant Kaduna state.
