The University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH), Gwagwalada, on Saturday, June 6, 2026, organised a sensitisation programme for members of staff on Patient-Centred Care (PCC) as part of efforts to enhance quality healthcare delivery and improve patient satisfaction.
Speaking during the sensitisation programme themed “One Stop Shop! The New UATH… No Wahala,” the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Thairu Yunusa, said the initiative was designed to reduce the long waiting time often experienced by patients while accessing healthcare services in the hospital.
Prof. Yunusa explained that the Patient-Centred Care approach would streamline service delivery, improve efficiency, and ensure that patients receive timely and quality medical attention.
According to him, the new system is expected to address operational inefficiencies in healthcare delivery and make it easier for patients to access doctors and other healthcare services without unnecessary delays.
The CMD urged all Heads of Departments and Units to embrace and support the initiative to ensure its successful implementation and contribute to the overall development of healthcare services in the hospital.
He further assured staff of the hospital management’s commitment to their welfare, including the continued improvement of working conditions and the payment of a 13th-month salary.
The Public Relations Unit reports that the sensitisation programme featured practical demonstrations of a newly introduced software platform designed to support the Patient-Centred Care model and enhance service delivery across the hospital.
The exercise also provided an opportunity for staff to gain hands-on experience with the new system and understand its role in improving efficiency, coordination, and patient experience within the hospital.
