Benue Gubernatorial Hopeful, Engr. Benjamin Akaakar, Condemns Killings in Otukpo-Onobi


The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) gubernatorial hopeful for Benue State, Engr. Benjamin Akaakar, has strongly condemned the tragic killing of innocent residents in Otukpo-Onobi, Idoma land, Benue State, in an attack reportedly carried out by suspected herdsmen.


In a statement, Akaakar expressed profound grief and sadness over the incident, describing the attack as “barbaric, inhuman, and unacceptable.” He said the loss of innocent lives is a painful reminder of the urgent need to tackle the worsening security challenges confronting Benue State.


“The continued attacks on our communities are deeply disturbing and demand immediate and decisive action from all relevant authorities,” he said.


The gubernatorial hopeful called on security agencies to thoroughly investigate the incident, apprehend those responsible, and ensure they are brought to justice.

He also urged the Federal and Benue State governments to strengthen security measures across vulnerable communities to safeguard lives and property and prevent further attacks.


Akaakar extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, the people of Otukpo-Onobi, and the entire Idoma nation, praying for God’s comfort and strength for those mourning the loss of their loved ones.


He also prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured in the attack and for the peaceful repose of the souls of the deceased.


“May the souls of the departed rest in perfect peace, and may God grant their families the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” he said.
