A new anthology of Yoruba wise cracks translated into English by a budding Nigerian writer, Mr. Olalekan Maxwell Fabilola, was publicly presented in Akure on Wednesday.
The book, Ancient Wisdom: Owe Yoruba, compilation of 500 Yoruba Proverbs with English and Further Explanations, was reviewed by Prof. (Olori) Omotayo Olutoye, the wife of the Alani of Idoani, HRM (Major Gen.) Olutoye.
The public presentation which was held at Ruby’s Court, Oke – Ijebu, Akure was Chaired by the Ooni of Ile-Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, supported by several royal fathers including the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi and the Oloba of Oba-Ile, Agunbiade Otutubiosun II. The foreword to the book was written by former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Mr. Olalekan Fabilola is a graduate of Nigeria’s premier private university, Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State.
