‘The Train Has Left The Station’- Group Knocks Adelabu Over APC Ticket

The Oyo Rising Citizens Forum (ORCF) has condemned comments made by Femi Awogboro, media aide to Chief Adebayo Adelabu, stating that the remarks suggest Adelabu is “living in a fool’s paradise” regarding the outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary.

In a press release issued and signed by Aderemi Adebisi and Owolabi Salam, in Ibadan, the ORCF described Awogboro’s claim—that the Oyo APC has not officially declared a winner for the 2027 governorship contest as an embarrassing attempt to deny a concluded and constitutionally valid process.

The ORCF stated that the party primary was decisively settled, with Senator Sharafadeen Alli declared as the validly elected candidate after polling 91,824 votes compared to Chief Adelabu’s 7,532 votes.

Furthermore, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has recognized Alli’s victory by issuing the statutory nomination forms and certificate, while party leaders have publicly unveiled and presented him as the APC’s standard-bearer.

“It is both laughable and deeply concerning that Chief Adelabu and his handlers are acting as though they live in an alternative reality,” the ORCF statement read.

The group accused Awogboro and his paymaster of describing verified INEC results as “speculative” in a bid to sow doubt, adding that the party’s internal democratic organs have completed their constitutional duties and moved on to reconciliation.

Warning that repeated claims of a “pending result” amount to anti‑party behaviour intended to undermine APC unity, the ORCF urged the national and state party hierarchies to enforce discipline.

The forum also called on Chief Adelabu to accept the overwhelming verdict of the party faithful and abandon what it termed a “phantom grievance.”

“The train has left the station. Senator Sharafadeen Alli is the singular, legally recognised APC governorship candidate for Oyo State, and no amount of media gaslighting can change that fact,” the ORCF concluded.
